Update on Josiah

Sunday, September 23

Josiah was in his reclining chair when we arrived – about 12:30 pm on Sunday, but was ready to be moved back to his bed. I think he had been in the chair about three hours. In this photo the nurses were putting the “harness” in position to move him.

“Ouch”, he said. The nurses removed the bottom tie so the move wouldn’t hurt his right leg.

Notice his mom on the left – holding a salad. We had stopped at Sheetz and created a twelve-inch turkey/bacon sub to divide between Cerwin, Josiah, and me. Diane ordered a fruity nutty salad.

Shortly after getting back in bed a nurse came and removed the IV from his neck (you can see it in this picture), but first prepared a spot on his left arm for the IV.

He had lots of visitors on Sunday. It was good to meet some of his friends.

Diane, his mom, had stayed with him for several days, so I snapped this shot before she left the room to catch her ride back home with friends from Maine.

The plastic surgeon doctor is keeping an eye on some dark spots on his severely damaged right leg. Preparations will soon be made for him to be transferred to a rehab location. We do not have a timeline on that.

We heard from afternoon visitors – especially Tyler’s parents – that Tyler is progressing and was able to stand up with the help of a walker. Josiah is not yet ready to stand.
