Neighbors Sharing & Caring
A women’s fellowship ministry of Chiques Church – Tuesday, March 4, 9:00 am. I have know about this ladies ministry for several years, but have never attended. This time I went at the invitation of Cerwin’s sister, Velda, who called the night before because our cousin Audrey was the speaker this week. The ladies take […]
Amish Church
~~~ Sunday, March 2 ~~~ It was a beautiful late winter day for the Amish to have worship at the Amish neighbor’s place closest to our house and the only one with the same street address as us. Their worship service was over by the time we went home from our Sunday worship, and many […]
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
~~~ Sunday, March 2 ~~~ What fun to prepare for 12 guests and not know who was coming. All we knew was that there was one couple, a single woman, and two families with 5 children under 5. I did know that the youngest was just a few months old, so prepared a baby seat […]
Sunrise Beautiful
~~~ Wednesday, February 26 ~~~ This sunrise illuminated the entire valley. More photos as I panned toward the south. I love beginning a day with a pretty sunrise.
Sportsman’s Dinner
~~~ Saturday Evening, March 1 ~~~ We enjoy this annual event at Ephrata Business Center, Ephrata, Pa – and rarely miss it. After most of the 500 people found seats and had opportunity to visit vendors, or compete in a variety of games, we were offered a variety of venison hors d’oeuvres, chips, pretzels and […]
Ham and Bean Soup
Monday, February 24 was a cold winter day – a good time to make a batch of ham and bean soup. After making it in a Dutch oven, I put it into a crock pot to stew all afternoon. It was delicious. This is a favorite soup of ours. The Recipe:
Waning Crescent and Something to Ponder
~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Something to Ponder
I first noticed her on the sunny side of the birdfeeder she had chosen. Because the feeder wire was a bit of obstruction I went to the window on her shady side. I see the Sapsuckers now and then, but not as often as the Downies. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
One of the Blessings of Living to Be Old
One of the blessings of living to be old is that our children are now old enough to comfortably share their love for us. 🙂 I got this photo on my cell phone today – from our oldest son, Jeff.
Cerwin’s Siblings
It was fun to have time with Cerwin’s brother and sisters last Saturday (February 22), which happened because Bob and Doris were here for a very short time as they traveled from northern Minnesota to Harrisonburg, VA, where Bob would be preaching at a week-long series of meetings. We chose Centerville Diner 2 (formerly Country […]
This Is How I Used the Money Gift from My Secret Sister
We started the day by spending the morning (8:30 to 11:00 am) at Blessings of Hope (Leola Warehouse) sorting green beans and putting them in bags. It took a bit of time to look through the beans and discard those that were wimpy or not what we would want to keep. Cerwin and I processed […]
Morning Sunrise and Something to Ponder
A small waning crescent moon was quietly observing the pretty sunrise on Saturday morning. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Red-bellied Woodpecker and Something to Ponder
She posed for me so nicely the other day. I know it is a female because there is gray between the red on her head and the red near her beak. The male has a solid red head. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
A Snow Flurry
~~~ Thursday, February 20 ~~~ We didn’t get a lot of snow, but it looked pretty for a while.
My Secret Sister’s Birthday Gift
I found this pretty card in our church mailbox last Sunday, February 16. I love this blessing. I am still waiting for an idea on how to use this $10.00. I have a sticker note on it, so it doesn’t get used for gas or taxes. 🙂
