Emmy’s 4th Birthday Party

Saturday Evening, May 16

We arrived at Jeff’s (Emmy & Lainey’s grandpa) place a bit early. He was entertaining the girls with golf cart rides while their parents (Nate and Lauree) prepared the meal.

Dustan (our grandson-in law) and me relaxing with two of our youngest great grandchildren. He is holding their youngest daughter Estella, and I am holding Jordan and Nicole’s Haven.

I needed a new picture of Zack, Gloria (our granddaughter), and Aleah.

Nate and Lauree brought this bounce house and sliding board as an activity for the children.

They sure had fun.

Jenna, Estella, Waylon (holding Haven), Diana, Nicole, Jordan, with Dustan and Cerwin on the swing.

Supper is ready! The guests included Nate’s family: grandparents, parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Also, Lauree’s family: her mom and stepdad, siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Nate (left) praying for the meal.

I didn’t think about taking pictures of the food. There was a southwestern salad bowl which included everyone’s choice of rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, guacamole, chicken or pulled pork. I probably missed a few items. There was also watermelon, garden tea and water.

Following the meal Lauree organized a “musical chairs” game for the children who wanted to play.

There was a chair for everyone but one when the music began. Some of the smallest were not quite sure what to do but soon caught on.

Lauree and her mom (Marilyn) helped them get used to the game.

Lauree’s brother-in-law was in charge of the music. He used his cell phone and a small boom box.

After the music stopped a chair was removed and a child was “out”, then the music began again.

Before long there were only two – Jade from the High family and one of the Wiegand grandsons.

Jade was at the right place when the music stopped. She won both games. Notice the blue boom box on the grass.

Then it was time for Emmy’s birthday cake. There were two: a strawberry short cake and a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

Lauree wanted a picture of all the Wiegand and High children who came to the party. I counted 22 and I think at least 8 were missing from the picture. 🙂 One of Lauree’s brothers and his family could not be there, and I think they have six children, plus there were two babies (Nate and Lauree’s two-week old Rylee and one of Lauree’s sisters has a two-month-old boy who were with their parents.

Nate and Lauree with their girls: Lainey, Rylee, and Emmy.

Singing Happy Birthday to Emmy.

Blowing out one of the candles. They took the candle off the cake so the wax wouldn’t end up on the cake.

Cerwin visiting with a Wiegand son-in-law with Jeff’s dog Charlie.

Bennett eating cake and ice cream on the move.

Bead and “tattoo” table. On one end the children were stringing beads and on this end there were stickers that could transfer their skin when using a sponge and water.

Lainey got a few presents too and helped Emmy open some of hers,

Time to clean up games and toys and put the golf cart away. It looks like Bennett is driving.

It was an incredibly nice evening.
