Monday Drive in Maine – Part 1

~~~
October 4
~~~

It wasn’t peak for the leaves, but there were pretty spots and it was a beautiful day for a drive – without a destination in mind. It was just Cerwin, Diane and Me. Mark was at work.

After getting to the Lewiston/Auburn area, we entered “Country Market” in the GPS, because Diane and I like country markets.

We ended up on some unusual back roads – to my delight – and came to this roadside stand.

We got potatoes, cookies and a loaf of blueberry/lemon bread. There was a box to place our payment.

We saw lots of wild turkeys on this trip – probably a dozen flocks of varying sizes.

After leaving the “Country Market” we continued northwest thinking the leaves may get prettier in that direction.

By 11 AM we were ready for a bathroom break when Cerwin noticed a roadside spot with a port-a-pot which worked fine for us – plus there was a lake with beautiful scenery.

Enjoy!

I would like to walk on that path.

There were a few duck enjoying the beautiful day.

Does anyone know what kind of duck this is? It has a bit of a loon look.

There was also a pair of what appears to be Mallards.

I think the male found something for lunch under the water.

At first I thought there was another bird, but I think it was just a piece of something.

More pictures from our Monday drive which eventually took us to Sunday River Ski Resort and lunch in New Hampshire. I will tell you more in my next post.
