Terrain Café for Lydia’s 2021 Birthday

Lunch – Thursday, May 27

Every now and then, I see that someone went to Terrain Café, Glen Mills, PA, so put the location in my bucket list.

When we talked about it the other week Lydia suggested that we do that for her 2021 birthday. I replied, “Do you want to do it while your mom is here.” She said, “Sure.”

I was glad Cerwin was driving, because there were some busy roads after getting off the turnpike. We arrived about half an hour before our reservation, giving us time to walk through their greenhouses, plants and flowers.

Our reservation was for 11:45.

Deb arrived just before our appointment. (Lydia asked for her to be included.) 🙂

We enjoyed ordering from their interesting variety of drinks. Left to right: Deb’s Blackberry Black Iced Tea, my Blueberry Bramble, Lydia’s Sea Salt Carmel Latte (not sure whose the second one belonged to. Maybe Lydia or Deb had two.), and Diane’s Hibiscus Black Iced Tea. Cerwin chose water.

This blueberry toothpick kind-of-thing was in my Blueberry Bramble.

Our bread and butter while we waited for the entrees.

Lydia, Deb, Diane, and Cerwin. We were glad we chose inside seating because it was a rather warm day.

Deb thought I should be in a picture.

Above us

We shared an appetizer: French Fries + Truffle pecorino. They were so good..

Diane’s Harvest Bowl (quinoa, seasonal vegetables, crispy chickpeas, spicy kale falafel, tahini vinaigrette)

Deb’s Breakfast Board (two eggs, applewood smoked bacon, maple breakfast sausage, potato hash, simply dressed greens, sourdough)

My Little Gem Lettuce Salad (english peas, asparagus, radish, cracked five seed, green goddess dressing). I added shrimp. It was delicious!

Lydia’s Fried Avocado Benedict (poached eggs, cauliflower and fennel hash, togarashi spiced holladaise)

Cerwin’s Terrain Burger (PA Angus local beef, cheddar, balsamic onion jam, brioche bun, fries. Can you tell who is the one among us who doesn’t like to try unusual food items? 🙂

The Mixed Berry Cake (lemon poppyseed cake, cream cheese mousse, lemon curd) was the dessert choice for most of us. Someone got the Chocolate Terrarium – maybe Lydia (milk chocolate namelaka, dulce de leche, matcha crumbles.) I think she liked all the unusual names. 🙂

We asked for take-home containers for the desserts, because we were running out of time. We wanted to be home by 2:30 pm so Lydia could make an appointment. I had Mixed Berry Cake. It was incredibly delicious. We were about 2/3 of the way home when Lydia got a phone call that her appointment was canceled. Oh, well, it may have been a good thing, because we would probably have stayed too long and bought too many flowers and plants. 🙂
