Hershey Family Christmas Brunch – Part 1

Saturday, December 28 – 9:00 AM

This brunch was made up of the five Hershey siblings, our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Names of the five Hershey siblings for future reference: Doris, Dale, Clair, Nancy and Steve.

It was a beautiful morning as we prepared our things for brunch at Manheim Brethren in Christ Church. We rent Warehouse 54 & Café and the gym.

The scenery was pretty as we were on the five-mile drive to the church.

Jere and Kristen (our son & daughter-in-law) are in charge of the setup and decorations and even had the entrance to Warehouse 54 & Café decorated.

Amy Rohrer (Marlin & Nancy’s daughter) helps oversee the menu and food – and was also there early.

Jere putting finishing touches to the hot chocolate bar.

Amy and Kristen discussing the brunch bar.

This decoration is a must at this Christmas celebration. Made by Jere and Kristen.

The room before people starting arriving. The ceiling lights are always there.

Jere and Kristen and their family came the evening before to set up and decorate the tables.

Notice the cute place settings.

Kristen begins working on a theme for this brunch as soon as one is over. I expect she has already begun on the 2020 theme and decorations. 🙂

The buttons (appetizer) are small Oreos. The fork and spoon are arms. The knife was inside the scarf napkin. The face was another napkin. The head is the dessert plate. The hat was cut out of heavy black paper.

No mocha punch in the bowl yet. The first batch is partially mixed, but I wait for people to arrive before putting it in the bowl. I make four batches. That means eight boxes of ice cream. 🙂

More decorations

Dot (my brother Dale’s wife) also arrived early to set up the children’s tables. She is a retired school teacher, so has great ideas for activities.

Their granddaughter Katie came a bit later and helped her.

Following prayer for the meal, we sang happy birthday to Kevin and Emma. I wasn’t sure which Kevin or Emma, because there are two of each.

The Emma was Emma Weaver (blue shirt) and not Emma Kerdeman. She is Vince & Kate’s daughter (Steve & Brenda) The Kevin was Kevin Rohrer (green shirt) and not Kevin Hershey. 🙂 Kevin is married to Amy (Marlin & Nancy)

The cake was made up of Achenbach long johns. So yummy! Achenbach’s Pastries Inc

Jade (our great granddaughter) got an early start on food with the help of her Uncle Nathan and mom, Jenna.

Part 2 in my next post.
