Sunday School

Subject: Mary’s Praise – Luke 1:39-56

Teacher: Kevin Longenecker

What does it mean to honor God?

Put Him first; respect, revere, obey; understand that He is Holy.

Do people see you as a light of Jesus – that you are with Jesus and that He is with you?

Mary brought a baby – our savior to the world?

What are you bringing to the world?

Worship Service

Scripture: Isaiah 7:14 KJV. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Minister: Ron Copenhaver

Title: Immanuel – God with us

We are doomed if God is not with us.

How do you view “God with us”?

During Old Testament times the symbol of where God dwelt was the Ark of the Covenant.

God’s glory departed from Israel when the Ark of the Covenant was taken by the Philistines. (1 Samuel 4:21. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.)

Is the fact that God is with us precious to our lives?

We all want God with us, but we fail, just like the Israelites failed when they didn’t notice sin in the camp.

God will not be with you if…

There is sin in “your camp.”

There is unrepentance

You despise God’s Word

If you do not go to His Word for answers.

You separate worship and obedience

The Israelites shouted and praised God, but they did not obey Him

If you are serious about God being with you

put away sin and prepare your heart for Him. Serve only Him.

Do you really want God with you?

To close the service we sang:

“God is with You ‘til We Meet Again” replacing the words of “God Be with You ‘til We Meet Again.
