Sunrise at the Beach

Friday Moring, July 26

Jere took this selfie of us shortly after we arrived at the beach. We had gotten up just before 5 am so we could leave the house by 5:30 to see the 5:50 sunrise.

Looking back on the row of houses from which we had just arrived. Our walkway to the beach was on the left near the white box.

Our first view of the ocean.

We came upon this horseshoe crab and thought it was dead.

But when Jere touched it with his shoe, it came alive.

When the first wave did not flip it, Jere flipped it with his shoe and the next wave took it out in the ocean where it belonged.

Our first sight of the sun was at 5:50 am.

If you look closely you can see a woman and a dog enjoying the ocean (left).

I zoomed in so we could see them better.

When these ladies saw us taking pictures, they asked if we would take a picture of them. Jere took the challenge.

I asked if they would do the same for us.

Our eyes could hardly take in the incredible beauty of the morning.

There were several other people enjoying the sunrise.

Sandpipers looking for breakfast.

Our shadows

When this lady and her dog got close to us, I asked if hers was the dog that was enjoying the waves. She smiled and replied, “No, my dog does not like the water.”

Heading back toward the house where Kristen was making breakfast.

It took us awhile to find the mocking bird who was serenading us as we walked off the beach. Finally Jere found it on top of the house.

Oh, what a beautiful morning. I was glad that we got up early to enjoy it.
