Notes from Ascension Day Worship

I am grateful to be part of a church fellowship that remembers Ascension Day with a time of worship. This year it was on the evening of the actual day – forty days after Easter.

Thursday Evening, May 30 – Sermon by Sam Cassel – Acts 1:1-11

Ascend means “to go higher.”

The best part of Jesus’ ascension:

He is now sitting beside God interceding for us.

Because He left us, the Holy Spirit came to us.

He is preparing a place for His followers.

He is coming back.

Ascension of Jesus Acrostic

Angels – came to the disciples after the ascension.

Servants – the disciples of Jesus had a servant attitude.

Christ – The only Son of God ascended to be with His Father.

Expectation – Because of His last words, we know the best is yet to come.

Not staying here – This world is not our home.

Sheep need fed – Jesus said be my messengers (feed my sheep).

Intercession – Because Jesus is now interceding for us, prayer has no waiting line.

Overcomers – We can do all things through Christ.

New Jerusalem – Our future. Jesus said I am preparing a place for you.

All this because of the “Ultimate Ascension” of Jesus Christ
