Going to JFK To Meet Friends from Belgium

Tuesday, March 26

We have flown out of JFK, but this was our first time driving there and finding Terminal 1 where we would meet our “online” friends Hans and Anneke from Belgium.

Notice the Brussels flight information on the bottom left.

After finding the place where we planned to meet them, Cerwin got a hot dog, then, as seats vacated we moved closer to the doorway where we would see them in person for the first time.

We were told that they would come through the door on the right of the red sign (on the right). We arrived a few minutes before their plane landed, but knew we would have a forty-five minute wait due to them going through customs and waiting for their luggage.

There they are! Our dreams and theirs have come true.

Hans ordered a lighted cross from me (through TFC) in 2005 to put on his truck. We have stayed in touch since then – more often after we connected on Facebook.

The trip was a gift to them from their three daughters and several friends for his 50th birthday.

We got acquainted and talked most of four-hour drive home. After they got settled in their bedroom, they presented us with a box of chocolates from Belgium – which are supposed to be the best in the world.

We ate some of the first layer of chocolates before I thought to take a picture, so this is a combination of layer one and layer two. I agree that it is some of the best chocolate I have ever eaten.

Our plan is to give them five days that they will remember forever – Wednesday, March 27 through Sunday, March 31. I will begin our incredibly fun journey with tomorrow’s entry.
