The Myers Arrive for Our Family’s Christmas Celebration

Friday Afternoon, November 30

Three of the Myers (Mark, Diane, and Hannah) arrived at our house (from Maine) on Friday afternoon. Hezekiah arrived from Tennessee a short time later.

Following an early supper, which Diane brought along, they went to Hanover (1 and 1/2 hours away) to visit Mark’s mother. Hezekiah and Josiah also went along and were a special surprise to Grandma Myers. They told us that Josiah did a great job of maneuvering the 6 or 7 steps into her house.

Saturday, December 1Diane had not seen Josiah’s leg for two weeks, so was anxious to see the skin graft healing that we were telling her about.

We uncover his wound every other day – sometimes every day – to promote healing. It is good to see skin covering about 3/4 of the wound.

He has appointments with two of his surgeons on Wednesday (Dec. 5). We are anxious to hear their report.

After removing the dressing we cover it with a white gauze that is soaked in a medication. It is kept on the wound for 15 minutes. After it is removed we allow it to be uncovered for the next few hours. Then it is re-covered for another 48 hours.

While Diane worked on Josiah’s leg, Mark and Cerwin enjoyed visiting in the kitchen.

Heze enjoyed his coffee in the mancave with Josiah.

Lydia’s sister Abby (right), Nathaniel, and Anthony came by in the afternoon with ice cream cake to surprise Lydia for her birthday.

I am not sure which one is giving advice to the other. 🙂

Heze brought Anthony a Lego tractor for Christmas.

I told Nathaniel that he is a good teacher. He helped Anthony “read” the instructions, but did not put it together for him.

I didn’t remember to take a picture of the finished product – which he loved.

Back in the kitchen, Diane hung out with three of her daughters: Abby, Lydia, and Hannah. Abby and Lydia live near us.

It’s fun to have all this activity in our house.
