Road Trip – Part 6 – Pass Lake Chapel Dedication

Sunday, April 12

DSC_9145We began our day like the one before – enjoying breakfast in our motel with Sam, Janet, and Dennis. Then we went to Sam and Janet’s home church – Lakehead Baptist in Thunder Bay.

DSC_9154Later, we and 25 others met at Pass Lake Chapel for the 3:00 PM dedication.

DSC_9157Dennis (Director of Canadian Ministries) led the service.

DSC_9161He asked Janet to read a Bible passage.

DSC_9186I could not see Janet from my vantage point on the steps – but she is right next to Sam and has her arm around his back.

DSC_9198The evening sun gave me a perfect shot of the back of the chapel.

It was here that we said our goodbyes to Sam and Janet. We have learned to love and appreciate them in a deeper way – especially during the last year as we corresponded about the chapel construction, delivered the chapel, and now having spent another few days with them.

It was difficult leaving them, knowing we may not see them for a long time. We are thankful for Facebook, and almost daily “likes” and correspondence.

DSC_9212On the way to Thunder Bay – from Pass Lake – Dennis took us to the memorial for Terry Fox.

It was a great day to stash away in our memory bank.
