Pond Scum and The Expedition are off!

Kerwin, Cambrie, and Carson are taking an early lead with Pond Scum

Mike and Claryn are doing well too.

Pond Scum got to the buoy first.

But The Expedition is not far behind.

Pond Scum is still in the lead.

Pond Scum won.

Good job guys, that was a great race.

The next race was Tip-Sea T-i-ger and The Bobber.

Oops! Tip-Sea T-i-ger went down.

The Bobber kept going with Doug, Garth, and Jack manning the paddles.

They are quite familiar with this pond as it is on their property – but they are not used to paddling across it in a cardboard boat.

Great job guys!

Now I’m nervous! This race includes our grandsons, Ian and Jesse, the two smallest racers. You can see their dad, Jere, giving them last minute encouragement.

And they are off – Skeeter and Oh Deere.

The other team – Eric and Jeremy – are also brothers.

Our little pirates seem to be having fun, even though they aren’t going very fast.

They are almost at the buoy.

Oh, no! They lost their balance and went down.

They are comfortable in water (and everyone had to wear life-preservers).

I’m sorry Eric and Jeremy (Oh Deere). I was so occupied with our boys that I did not see how you did. 🙁

Ian made sure he didn’t loose the paddles (they were borrowed) and brought them along back.

I was so proud of these two – that they were brave enough to try it by themselves.

This grandma gave a sigh of relief when they were both back to shore.
