Cardboard Boat Races ~ Part 2

Sunday Afternoon, August 17

DSC_7490Pond Scum and The Expedition are off!

DSC_7491Kerwin, Cambrie, and Carson are taking an early lead with Pond Scum

DSC_7493

DSC_7494Mike and Claryn are doing well too.

DSC_7496Pond Scum got to the buoy first.

DSC_7497But The Expedition is not far behind.

DSC_7499

DSC_7500Pond Scum is still in the lead.

DSC_7501Pond Scum won.

Good job guys, that was a great race.

DSC_7502The next race was Tip-Sea T-i-ger and The Bobber.

DSC_7504Oops! Tip-Sea T-i-ger went down.

DSC_7506The Bobber kept going with Doug, Garth, and Jack manning the paddles.

DSC_7509They are quite familiar with this pond as it is on their property – but they are not used to paddling across it in a cardboard boat.

DSC_7510Great job guys!

DSC_7513Now I’m nervous! This race includes our grandsons, Ian and Jesse, the two smallest racers. You can see their dad, Jere, giving them last minute encouragement.

DSC_7515And they are off – Skeeter and Oh Deere.

DSC_7516The other team – Eric and Jeremy – are also brothers.

DSC_7517Our little pirates seem to be having fun, even though they aren’t going very fast.

DSC_7522

DSC_7525They are almost at the buoy.

DSC_7526

DSC_7527Oh, no! They lost their balance and went down.

DSC_7529They are comfortable in water (and everyone had to wear life-preservers).

DSC_7532I’m sorry Eric and Jeremy (Oh Deere). I was so occupied with our boys that I did not see how you did. 🙁

DSC_7532Ian made sure he didn’t loose the paddles (they were borrowed) and brought them along back.

DSC_7534I was so proud of these two – that they were brave enough to try it by themselves.

DSC_7537This grandma gave a sigh of relief when they were both back to shore.

More races tomorrow night.
