Reflections

The other morning I was drawn to the outside when I saw the yellow glow of the sunrise, but what captured my attention was the sun’s reflection on the snow. It looked like a pool of gold. That evening the sunset created more beautiful reflections on the late winter snow. I am grateful for eyes to see […]

Photos from early March The late winter sunsets have been beautiful. Some days it feels like winter will never end, then there are days when it is warm (like today) and we notice signs of spring. Like seeing birds in pairs. Then without much warning, the next day is cold and cloudy. A pretty cardinal makes me smile ~ […]

Cold Beauty From February

Since I spent so much time and space on my birthday, the visit from our Maine family, and other things, I left some of the February weather and bird pictures go until everything else was posted. The First Day of February

It was a beautiful, calm day in southeastern Pennsylvania as we awaited snow (again) later in the week. I had trouble eliminating any of the sunrise pictures because of the glorious coloring. There must be salt on the pickup truck tires. This squirrel was there for several minutes licking the tire. We have juncos in abundance […]

January 30 & 31 were quiet, cold, beautiful, winter days at our house. It is fun to watch and photograph birds on winter days. The last sunset of January.

Pretty Day After The Snow

Wednesday, January 22 The morning sun tinted everything with a yellow glow. The goldfinches looked more yellow than they actually are at this time of year. As the sun got higher in the sky the light revealed beautiful white snow. By evening we were back to yellow in the sky. Then just as the sun […]

I began working on bulk mailings in 1977. The Northeast Region was new then, and Director Melvin Mast and his wife, Joyce, were preparing to mail newsletters by using a bulk permit. My first job in their office was to organize addresses – on typed labels – in alphabetical order. On my first day in the office, the addresses were on […]

A Lot Of Orange In The Sky

The sky was brilliantly orange on Thursday morning, January 9. The sun looked like a big yellow torch as it came over the eastern horizon. This dark-eyed junco kept an eye on me at I watched it eat breakfast. The evening sky was also a brilliant orange. I think God must have an invisible paintbrush.

Sunsets & Snow

It’s been a week of pretty sunsets and snow. Saturday evening, December 21 Christmas Eve snow flurry. Christmas evening brilliance We were surprised to wake up to snow the day after Christmas. I’m not sure how we missed the weather forecast for snow – maybe it was because of the Christmas Day activities. It gave Cerwin […]

We had our own family Christmas here today. I am happily weary from all the activity (all mothers understand what I mean), so will only post sunset pictures from the other evening. There will be family Christmas pictures tomorrow night.

Thursday, December 12 was a busy day in the office as I had many things to do. I only had two days in my office this week – we got home from Hudson, Wisconsin, on Tuesday evening and were heading to Burlington, Ontario, on Friday morning for a memorial service for our TFC friend Audrey Scott. Imagine our delight when […]

Traveling – Richmond, Indiana, to Home

Wednesday, November 20 After a quick motel breakfast we began the final leg of this trip. I love early mornings on the road – about the time the sun is coming up. It’s a great time to take pictures. Like Tuesday, I spent most of the day reading. Though we had a fabulous trip to […]

A Breath-taking Evening

A yellow glow outside our house windows entices me to grab my camera. Our little valley is especially beautiful at sunset.   I liked how the sun was setting on the neighbor’s buildings.  It has been an interesting fall. The leaves are changing gradually – and some are already falling. The source of the yellow glow on this […]

The other evening when I was in the kitchen, cleaning up after supper, I noticed a yellow glow and went to investigate.    I had fun experimenting with camera settings.   It was certainly a beautiful close to the day.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunset last night in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. While I was taking pictures, Cerwin was talking to the driver next to us (second from left). He used to be an over-the-road driver, and said, “Thanks for having chapels in truck stops. I used to stop in whenever I had time.” He now drives […]

These words are all synonyms of the word miscellaneous – which is a perfect description for this entry of recent happenings in our lives. I received this photo of our granddaughter Lydia (from Maine) and the taggy blanket she made for a little boy – the son of a secretary at VoTech where she attends. I never heard of a taggy blanket, […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
