Five Generations  Back: Dorretta (Grandma), Justin (Father). Front: Velda (Great-grandma), Owen (baby), and Ella (Great-great-grandma) The parents: Haley and Justin with Mother and Owen. We added Owen’s great-grandparents Mel and Velda. He was not particularly impressed with all the photographers. Owen’s grandparents, Dorretta and Rod in the back. Then we changed our attention to baby Bryson. […]

Mother High’s 96th Birthday Party – Part 1

Last night we had a covered dish supper to celebrate her birthday. Justin, Josh, Jordan, and Cerwin. After lunch we asked the young guys in our man cave to help get the table board and saw horses from the pavilion to use for the serving table. We timed their help perfectly – just before the Eagles game […]

Jesse – The Chef

Ian, Jana, Jared, and Jesse – ready for school this morning. This morning when I was making sure that backpacks were ready for school, I discovered a chef’s hat and apron in Jesse’s backpack. When I asked if he needed it for school, he said, “No. I thought maybe I could help you cook.” So we made […]

What fun to have them in our house. You may remember that we recently visited them in Wisconsin and stayed at their house – now it is time for us to return the favor. They are in Pennsylvania for a wedding and to visit family. K is so curious and doesn’t miss a thing, so […]

Hawthorne Picnic

Sunday was a beautiful evening at our pavilion when the Hawthorne family came for our annual picnic. The Hawthorne’s are my mother’s family.    I love watching these little ones – two of my sister, Nancy’s, granddaughters.    I like the intensity of my cousin Donna’s expression as she visits with Aunt Hazel. Visiting is always an […]

I planned to take several photos at the Hershey Reunion on Sunday, but forgot about it until most of the people had gone home.   It was supposed to be held in the pavilion in our wood lot, but due to the uncertain weather at noon, we set up tables in our garage, kitchen, and […]

Driving Toward Rochelle, Illinois

Wednesday, July 17 We enjoyed a relaxing morning with Judi and K in Wisconsin before preparing to head toward Rochelle, Illinois, for the night. Judi has a nice, well-kept little garden.  K wasn’t sure about sitting on my bottom bunk in the truck. But her mom soon had her smiling. This is Reuben and Judi’s […]

Visiting in Wisconsin – Part 2

Tuesday, July 16 There is a small walking bridge on the other side of the rock. I got this picture of K and Reuben without Reuben knowing I was taking it. Now they know I’m here. Another family picture. This huge rock just seems to “be there” in the middle of fields and homes. When […]

Visiting in Wisconsin – Part 1

Tuesday, July 16 We left Bob and Doris’ house shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning – first traveling over the dirt road that goes by their house, then again picking up Route 2 to Duluth. We got a glimpse of Lake Superior in Duluth. Don’t miss the “load” on the truck in the foreground. […]

Picking Strawberries

Monday, July 15 It was a warm, humid morning in Minnesota, so Doris and I decided to go to the strawberry patch early. You can see that Doris (to the left of the greenhouse) got there a few minutes ahead of me – because I was taking pictures. Three hours later we had ten large buckets […]

Sunday Morning Photo Shoot in Minnesota

Sunday morning, July 14 Japheth called to ask if I would do a photo shoot of their family before church. Of course I said I would, even though I prefer doing candid camera work, I figured neither of us had anything to lose. 🙂 I will not publish any of the posed shots – Japheth and […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (two are in Heaven), and twenty-two great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
