~~~ Saturday Evening, October 26 New Covenant Mennonite Church, New Holland, PA ~~~ We thoroughly enjoyed this bluegrass/gospel concert. It was the first time we heard J-Tyme, a local, very talented family. Authentic Unlimited from Hartford, Tennessee. The local group – Tru Vintage – the group that puts these concerts together. Tru Vintage recently discovered […]
This is a sign that peak colors are over for most of the trees in our woodlot.
October 22 These two Shagbark Hickory trees seem to be the highlight of our woodlot each fall because they stand tall and together in the front of our yard, while many others are just as pretty, but they are a mix of many trees that stand next to or behind our house. October 23 I […]
60 Years Old! (9) Facebook We love you! Dad and Mom
~~~ Wednesday, October 23 ~~~ Abby had places to be and asked if their children could spend a few hours with us. I was glad we had an open day. It had been about a month and a half since we had them. The children wanted pancakes for lunch, and since I didn’t have a […]
It’s starting to look a lot like fall.
Zonal Geranium Wax Begonia Woodland Sunflower The first three are in pots next to our house. I am always happy to see our Garden Mum. I bought it about 5 years ago, not knowing that it was hearty and would continue blooming each fall.
~~~ Sunday, October 21 ~~~ Mel (red shirt) talking to their grandson Jeremy. Peyton (niece) and Velda (Mel’s wife and Cerwin’s sister) talking. There were delicious snacks, including, cake and ice cream. Mel and Velda’s children – Dorretta, Donald, Denise – made sure the snack dishes were always filled. We enjoyed visiting with people we […]
It’s the time of year when we get to see sunsets from our front windows again. Oh, how delightful for us.
I love this morning view each fall as our two tall Hickory trees turn yellow. They are especially pretty as the sun is coming up and shining on them.
We had a good representation of our group (retired from Transport For Christ) this time when we met at Brickerville House Restaurant. There were ten of us. Left to Right: Cerwin, Sam Marianne, Peg, Bunny, Joe, Jeff, Kathy, and Inge. From the other end of the table. Bunny, Joe, Jeff, Kathy, Inge, Cerwin, Sam, Marianne, […]
This is what the grass looks like on the woodlot side of our house these days – lots of leaves. You can see a variety of leaves: hickory, maple, oak and cherry. At the moment, this Shagbark Hickory is the most colorful tree in our yard. “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” L. […]
~~~ Sunday, October, 13 ~~~ I have never been involved in this activity at church because of our busy lives with Transport For Christ. I no longer have that excuse since we retired. Because we are on the Spiritual Enrichment and Caring Committee at church for another three years (a committee who reaches out to […]
~~~ Saturday, October 12 ~~~ It was a beautiful morning as we drove toward the Ole Hickory area of Lancaster during sunrise. George, Marv (we call him Tex), Ronnie, Marv, Cerwin, Gene, Betty (Gene’s wife), Eloise (Marv’s wife). When Cerwin writes “Mountain Raiders” on the calendar, I know we will be having breakfast with some […]
The other day – when it was warm and sunny – I decided to venture out to the end of our driveway and check on the soybean field across the road. The field is now yellow with the maturing crop. Many fields in our area are already brown with drying beans. This field was planted […]
