Johnny Jump-Up Violet and Something to Ponder
My flower identification Ap tells me these are a Johnny Jump-up Violet or Wild Pansy. No matter their name, they are a pretty addition to one of our potted patio flowers this summer. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Sight
~~~ Saturday, June 8 ~~~ We are just back at the house after seeing the movie Sight at Penn Cinema in Lititz. We had Theatre 9 to ourselves. It should have been filled. After watching this movie, it feels like my life has been very shallow. From the Internet: Sight is a 2024 American biographical […]
Three Great Granddaughters in Our Yard
~~~ Saturday, June 1 ~~~ I remember the day (like yesterday) in 1967 when I looked out our kitchen window into a yard not yet seeded, and thought, “Someday there will be children playing in that yard.” At the time we had two children, and I couldn’t know that there would be two more, plus […]

Our Redbuds and Something to Ponder
I found these photos in my unused spring pictures and wonder why I didn’t use them before. Our redbud tree was prettier than usual this spring. The photos were taken on April 23. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Blessings of Hope with Anthony
~~~ Wednesday Morning, May 29 ~~~ Last week I invited our great grandson Anthony to go along with me to Blessings of Hope. He was excited to volunteer and do whatever job we had to do. He turned ten years old in early May, so he is eligible to volunteer. Cerwin could not go last […]
Our Siberian Iris were beautiful this year. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Transforming Our Mint Tea Bed
During the past few years, our garden tea has totally taken over the area where we planted it many years ago. It became too much tea for us to deal with, so we purposefully removed most of it, leaving only what is sensible for our use. We removed as many roots as we could and […]
Day Trip with Marlin and Nancy – Part 2
~~~ Saturday, May 25 ~~~ Featuring Old Barns One of my favorite things to find on a backroad drive is old – sometimes very old – barns. I hit the jackpot on this drive with Marlin and Nancy into the deep countryside of Fulton County. If old barns could talk, I would love to sit […]
Day Trip with Marlin and Nancy – Part 1
~~~ Saturday, May 25 ~~~ We were pleased to have the day open when my sister Nancy and her husband Marlin invited us to go on a day trip with them to Fulton County. The purpose for this drive was to visit a farm that his friend Dale bought some time ago. Marlin and Dale […]
Outside Our Window and Something to Ponder
I love to look outside our windows and watch what is going on in the fields or on the road. On this day (about two weeks ago) they were preparing the fields for planting corn. When I am not watching large field equipment, I see an occasional Amish buggy going by. ~~~ Something to Ponder […]
Hens and Chicks Succulents
I enjoy watching our Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum is the real name) go through a lifecycle stage. That is when one grows tall and flowers. This happens when a hen reaches full maturity and produces a tall flower stalk called an inflorescence and happens when the mother plant is nearing the end of its life.
3rd Birthday Party for Natalie
~~~ Tuesday, May 21 6 pm ~~~ The birthday girl She had a special decoration at her chair. There was also a special butterfly balloon – from Aunt Lydia. Several beautiful peonies, from their yard, were the center of attraction on the two large tables. While waiting for Nathaniel to finish grilling hamburgers, Anthony showed […]
