Phedimus, Nettle, and Something to Ponder
This Aizoon Stonecrop Phedimus (yellow) and Spotted Dead Nettle (purple) have been faithful and pretty ground covers in our patio flowerbed for many years. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Host Family
~~~ Sunday, July 14 noon ~~~ Retirement offers time for things we haven’t done in years – if ever. Like, sign up at church to be the host family after Sunday morning worship. We tried something new – bought two 9 x 12 area rugs for the garage so it was easier for us to […]
Northern Flicker and Something to Ponder
Notice his tongue. The black line next to his beak is the identifying mark that tells me it is a male. It is not unusual to see a flicker at our feeders, but we may only see them about once a week. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Rain, Precious Rain
I took these pictures on July 9 during a nice rain, then when we thought it was getting a bit dry for yards and crops, we received a wonderful 2″ rain yesterday. I can almost hear the yards, corn, soybeans, and other crops drinking it in. Rain, precious rain.
Highlights from Bible School 2024
Bible School at White Oak Church was held from Monday evening, July 8 through Friday evening, July 12. These photos are from Thursday evening, July 11. This year’s theme was “The Great Jungle Journey”, an epic cruise from Genesis to Revelation. The pulpit area included a water fall and a few other jungle items. It […]
The Sky and Something to Ponder
Sometimes the sky and clouds just capture my attention. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Johnny Jump-ups and Something to Ponder
My flower ID App tells me these pretty orange flowers are Johnny Jump-ups – a species of violet. Sometimes they are also called wild pansies. They came in a flowerpot I bought at a greenhouse earlier this spring. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Beautiful Butterfly and Something to Ponder
I enjoyed watching this butterfly which appears to be a great spangled fritillary. I am not familiar with those, but photos on the internet appear to be the same. It was interesting to see the difference between the top and bottom of its wings. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Birthday Lunch with Jesse
What fun to enjoy a meal with Jesse for his 17th birthday. Two Cousins Restaurant is our choice for birthday meals this year. They can choose anything from the menu. Cerwin chose a cheesesteak, I enjoyed a slice of pizza and onion rings, and Jesse had a ham and cheese stromboli. I love the one-on-one […]
Amish Worship Service in Our Neighborhood
We came upon this family as we drove to our own worship services on Sunday morning. This time their church service was in a home on a hillside just to the east of our road. We came home a different way so I could capture a photo from another angle. By this time some were […]
Springtime Photos and Something to Ponder
I still have some springtime photos in my file that haven’t been posted. Our Redbud tree had beautiful blooms this spring. I love when the ferns are young and the periwinkles are just about the same shade of fresh new green. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Happy Birthday to Our Favorite Elizabeth
We love you! Grandpa and Grandpa High
Our July 4th Excursion
When Cerwin asked me a few days earlier if I wanted to go for a drive and get lunch on July 4th, you know I was on board as I envisioned a few back roads. I suggested going to Plum Creek for an early lunch. It has been a while since we were there. It […]
