Longwood Gardens ~ Walking Outside

I had to pull myself away from the conservatory, but didn’t want to miss a walk up to the tower and hillside where Cerwin and I had our engagement pictures taken more than 54 years ago. There are lots of seating areas – for resting and enjoying the scenery. I was standing here when the […]

I don’t have a lot of time to post tonight, so chose to show you the unique and beautiful bathroom area in the Longwood Gardens Conservatory. The bathrooms are individual or family and the hallway walls are covered with ferns. A family bathroom It’s not often that I feature bathrooms. 🙂

Longwood Gardens – Part 1

Wednesday, October 26 I was delighted when my TFC friend, Inge, offered to take me to Longwood Gardens. It was a beautiful, cool morning. She chose the back road way – which refreshed my soul.   We each went our own way, meaning that we could each do our own thing and take pictures at our leisure. […]

August Flowers

We redid this flowerbed earlier this year and I am still enjoying the newness of it – after having been used to bushes that were planted 48 years ago. I also added a few potted flowers – something that rarely works for me because I forget to water them. I was determined to take care of […]

Good Old Summertime

I was surprised to see a rabbit on our patio. I rarely seen one in our yard – especially near the house. Corn fields across the road from our yard. A mushroom in one of our flower beds. Does anyone know what kind it is. I could not find a similar one when I googled […]

Field & Garden

May 21 to June 3 This beautiful Ring-necked Pheasant was in a neighboring field when we returned to our house following Jared and Chelsey’s wedding. The next morning – on the way to Sunday school – there was a Trumpeter Swan in the field across from us. I am not sure that I ever saw one […]

Birds & Blossoms of May 20

It was a beautiful day in our yard. I think this robin must have “heard” a worm on our patio, because it was here for quite awhile. Then a mockingbird came by. Mr. Cardinal was looking for sunflower seeds. Our lilac bush has gotten quite large – and smells delightful. Lilacs and early summer seem to […]

A Cold Saturday Morning

Saturday, December 5 It will soon be the last time we see colored dogwood leaves this fall as we are beginning to have some cold, frosty mornings. There was a bit of ice in the bird bath. I’m surprised that we still have roses. This rose is edged with frost. I am sure these tender flowers in our patio […]

There were four events that happened just before we went on the cruise, so I want to post three of them before I go into the details and photos from the cruise. I will work on the fourth one, Brethren Disaster Relief Auction, after I post the cruise photos. ~~~ Old Gang Get-Together – Sunday evening, September 20 We enjoyed a delicious […]

Sunday morning, September 20 We stayed with Sam and Alice Rittenhouse overnight – after the Bucks-Montgomery Truck Show and Dinner Concert. When we are there, I always enjoy taking a tour of his amazing orchard and garden. Much of the garden and orchard fruit and vegetables are over for the summer, but this is the time […]

Friday, September 4 I went outside early Friday morning to see what was growing and blooming at Mark and Diane’s house in mid-coast Maine. The sky was clear – with only one noticeable cloud. This year Diane’s garden consists of buckets since buying a house and moving is in their 2015 plans. What had been their garden in […]

Friday Morning, July 10 We woke up to a warm, drizzly morning in Berlin, Ohio I walked one mile on the motel treadmill (while Cerwin watched the news in our room) before exploring the gardens and area around our motel. The outside entrance to our room. The patio area. Though the rain had stopped, many leaves and […]

Sunset In Our Valley

Several days ago I noticed a yellow glow outside our windows and went for my camera. It was a beautiful evening. The day lilies looked pretty in the evening sun. Since I only have a few weeks to enjoy the daisies, I try to advantage of pictures. Changing the angle of the sunlight changes the […]

Cerwin’s youngest sister Doris, from Minnesota, and Mother had a delightful time when Doris spent a week (plus) in Pennsylvania while her husband was in Grenada preaching at a week-long crusade. I don’t know what this flower is, but it was blooming at the Middle School when we went there for a concert the other week. (Our friend Sam Rittenhouse tells me this is a viburnum – either a Carlisi or Marlisi.) I can tell when our Lily of the Valley is blooming – even before I see […]

Snow, Ice and Flowers From Last Week

Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 4 We went from snow and ice (last week) to a warm, rainy, spring-like week, so it’s difficult to remember that these pictures are from just a week ago. My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
