Beauty After The Snowstorm

Friday, March 6 The day after the snowstorm was sunny and pretty. Every thing dirty and dull was covered in white. Red-bellied Woodpecker – female. The male has a red head. Blue Jay Carolina Wren I would appreciate if these gray critters would only go to the ground and box feeders, but they enjoy emptying […]

Snow!

| Winter

Thursday, March 5 I had been wanting a real snowfall, and it finally came last Thursday. By the end of the day we had about 10 inches of new snow. Since all the birdseed was covered with snow, I put out several suet blocks. They became quite popular and caused several fights. Snow creates incredible […]

A Foggy Drive

| Winter

Wednesday, March 4, 2015 It was an icy, foggy afternoon – when we left the house to visit Cerwin’s mother. I thought you may enjoy traveling with us. Fog makes everything look so different. We don’t often see a big rig in our local village. Flags hung limp as there was not even a small breeze. I […]

Snow, Ice and Flowers From Last Week

| Flowers, Winter

Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 4 We went from snow and ice (last week) to a warm, rainy, spring-like week, so it’s difficult to remember that these pictures are from just a week ago. Morning shadows on the snow. Sam (man cave “grandson”) was kept busy shoveling snow for several days. The ice and glitter were pretty, […]

Sunday Evening, March 1 Mother called me in the morning – before church – to see if we still wanted to come for supper since snow and ice was predicted. Our dad would have been proud of us, because each one said they liked the challenge of driving through snow. Daddy enjoyed driving in snow. Our […]

Saturday Afternoon, February 28 In this entry you will see some of the faces that go with the hats in last night’s post. You will notice that many girls and ladies did not wear hats. For those who follow our daughter Deb’s “Nut Hut” posts, Darlene (left) is the one who rescued the owl from the manure […]

Friday, February 27 A pretty cardinal posed for me in the early morning sun. I like when I have time to enjoy the birds. I noticed a tufted titmouse on a feeder close to the kitchen window while I was still holding my camera. In the afternoon, when going to visit Cerwin’s mother, we noticed this plane coming […]

Manure & Sheep

Wednesday, February 25 We awoke to a certain “country scent” in the air after manure was spread on the field next to our house. Thankfully we did not smell it indoors. It is interesting that God created birds to love this kind of thing. That way, the corn and grain that was eaten by the cows becomes food […]

Tuesday, February 24 I was anxious to open the box that arrived from National Wildlife Federation. It included cards using one of our daughter Deb’s photos. This one is of Chester when he was a baby. Congratulations, Deb. Jared and Jesse were here for a bit after school, and when Jesse saw me stitching Jared’s picture, he asked […]

Snow ~ Again

Sunday, February 22 Snow seems to be the theme for our weekends in recent weeks – and for many days during the week. Cerwin opened our driveway before church in the morning. Toward evening I went outside to take a picture of the sunset. This is what I saw when I looked up. The sky […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (two are in Heaven), and twenty-two great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
