My Birthday Week – Day 4

Tuesday, February 5

This was a special day – unlike the previous one.

My favorite sister took me to Fox Meadows Creamery for lunch – a birthday gift.

She got an affogato.

I got my new favorite winter drink – a crème brulee latte.

Nancy got tomato soup and a half sandwich (not sure what kind). I got a half Smoked Turkey Panini.

Nancy was ten when I got married, so it took a few years until we felt like “real” sisters. That probably happened when she and I were pregnant at the same time – she with their oldest (Karen) and me with our youngest (Deb).

I love that we live in the same woodlot and that we became real friends. We are quite different. She loves to cook. I don’t. She is short and I am tall. But we “understand” each others silly stories and “God things.” We can talk for hours – about many subjects. 🙂

Thanks, Nancy, for a fabulous lunch.

We went to Lititz Family Cupboard for supper with Cerwin’s family. It was a meal to honor their parents – who both died in February – Daddy in 2000 and Mother in 2016. Several got things that reminded them of Daddy and Mother. Cerwin got ham loaf, because that is what Daddy would have gotten. I chose a cucumber salad that reminds me of Mother. She is the one who introduced me to this style salad.

I reserved seats for 20 in the back room of Lititz Family Cupboard – one of Daddy and Mother’s favorite restaurants. Since a week night suited Cerwin’s siblings best, it didn’t suit some of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In the front: our nephew Bryan (right) and his friend Crissy (not sure if I spelled her name correctly). Next on the right, Cerwin’s sister Velda and her husband, Mel. On the left our niece Crystal and her husband Jakey.

Left: our niece Gabi (her husband, Donald was on a mission trip), our niece Dorretta and her husband, Rod. On the right: our daughter Deb (Roy’s job is two hours away – a bit far to go for supper) and Rod and Dorretta’s son Justin.

CJ (Caleb) in the high chair) sitting next to his grandma Pat. Next to Pat is her husband Elvin (Cerwin’s brother) and Paul (Pat’s nephew). On the right Jakey and Crystal’s girls Peyton and Bailey. Bryson is on the end. He and CJ are Bryan’s sons.

Cerwin, Chris, and Jeff (our son)

That was a fun, noisy evening. We all agreed that we must do this again.
