Cerwin’s Ten-Day Birthday Celebration – Day 5

Monday was the day we planned to go to Longhorn Steakhouse for supper – Cerwin’s favorite steakhouse, but as the day went on, we weren’t sure we could make it happen. Cerwin also wanted to go to Costco to have the stem (arm) of his new eyeglasses adjusted. The one arm was bothering him behind his ear.

About 10:30 am we got a call from a friend/neighbor who learned while getting kidney dialysis that he needed to go to the ER when the dialysis was finished. We take him for appointments now and then – especially when his wife is working. We got him to the ER about noon. I told Cerwin to go to Costco to have his glasses adjusted, because nothing moves quickly in an ER.

Our friend had a variety of tests, blood work and cultures done because his dialysis site appeared to be infected. Cerwin did get his glasses adjusted, then joined me in the ER waiting room. It was about 3:30 pm when our friend called us to say they were admitting him because he needed surgery the next day to repair the dialysis site.

Our original goal was to be at Longhorn by 4 pm to get ahead of the evening crowd – and we were there by 4 pm. 🙂 Plus we had fun talking to several people in the ER who we knew.

Our cute waitress took a few pictures with Cerwin’s cell phone since I didn’t have my camera along.

Cerwin’s baked potato and steak. He also had a salad. He likes that they do a 6 oz filet mignon.

I love their shrimp and rice. It is so buttery. I also had a delicious salad.

Cerwin’s free birthday sundae.

Cerwin kindly shared his sundae with me. It was a perfect meal for two old people.
