Nate’s Montana Elk

It was fun to keep up with Nathan’s (grandson) archery elk hunt last fall, especially after he had this beautiful 7 x 7 elk on the ground.

These guys hunt on their own – without a guide – but they do a lot of research before going. If you want to know more about their trip, you will have to ask Nate (right) or his brother-in-law Zach (to his left). We know the family of one of their hunting friends, but do not know the other.

Nate had a problem with storing it because their house is too small, so asked if we would consider hanging it in our garage – along with some of Cerwin’s mounts. Last Saturday (April 13) it was ready and delivered to our place by Nate and his friend Coleman.

It makes Cerwin’s deer and bear look very small.

Nate and Lauree hope to eventually have a house where it can be stored, meaning it is here temporarily.

This is what we see every time we go out our back door.

The elk is definitely “king” of the room.

Nate gave us a pack of frozen elk sausage, which I turned into a meal a few days later. It was delicious.
