Some Things Just Make My Heart Smile

Like bright morning sunshine on our decorative grasses.

When the nighttime moon is still hanging around in the morning sky.

There are also recent things that made my heart smile. Things that I didn’t or couldn’t photograph:

Last week – after having a routine check-up at Campus Eye – I was told there was not much change to my eyes (after 3 years), but I did get a slightly changed prescription for my lens.

I needed new lens whether there was an update to my prescription or not. Last summer a pebble hit my glasses when I was weed eating – leaving a small mark on my lens. Also, I noticed that something was scratching my lens. It had to be from my camera, but I couldn’t figure out why. Then while examining the camera eye piece, I remembered the protective, soft cover came apart and fell off last summer. I didn’t think it make much difference whether on or off. But with the soft cover removed, the hard eye piece was scratching my lens. I replaced that last week before getting new glasses. (Smile)

I took my new prescription to Costo and when looking at eye frames a staff person asked if he could help me. I said, “Yes, I am looking for frames just like the ones I am wearing. Last time I had new lens put in these frames, but it was now time to get new frames because mine were looking worn.”

He said, “Did you get them here?”

I said, “Yes.”

He looked up my information and discovered that they still make these. I was one happy person. I love these because they are very light in weight and fit my face. (Smile)

I have had trouble with getting an online reprint of my parents wedding photo. Whenever I ordered a 5 x 7 (twice), their feet were cut off. Even though the 5 x 7 photo I sent them did not have their feet cut off. Today I went to the local CVS and printed my own. I probably should have done that in the first place. Yes! Their feet are on the print. I want to send this to my favorite place for getting patterns for doing my counted cross stitch. I never tried doing a two-person counted cross stitch. I am anxious to try this. (Smile)

On the way home from CVS today, we were following a school bus for a short time and when it stopped at a home where we knew the grandparents. The girl’s mother and dad were standing on the porch – waiting for her. The mom appeared to be holding a brand-new baby. When the schoolgirl got off the bus (probably kindergarten or first grade) her dad walked toward her and got down on one knee. She leapt into his arms, and he carried her toward the porch. My heart smiled and I thought, “If only every child had a daddy like that.”

I love when my heart smiles.
