We Need More Puddles

We were delighted to have some rain on July 17, but it wasn’t enough for the moisture our crops need – and we had only a bit of rain since that date.

Yesterday there were a few sprinkles.

At least the last several days have been cloudy with a tiny amount of rain instead of intense sunshine.

One of our hummingbirds also enjoyed the rain shower.

If you wonder why our suet feeder is empty, it’s because we have a family of raccoons who trash our feeders and knock things over in an attempt to reach the feeders. 🙂

One night when we were coming home, a momma and 5 babies walked across the road in front of the car as we approached our driveway. At least we got to meet some of the culprits.

Thankfully the hummingbirds don’t need suet and the raccoons seem to stay away from the sugar syrup.

The hummingbirds seem to enjoy relaxing on the suet feeder when it is empty.

We see a hummingbird almost every time we look out the kitchen window.

Sometimes we see two or three, but those are always fighting. For some reason the ones in our area like to eat one at a time.
