Road Trip Day 2

~~~
Tuesday, July 27 – South Bend IN to Woodbury, MN
~~~

We got up early enough to say goodbye to Josiah – who left about half an hour before us. We didn’t see him again because he was headed for the city and we were going around it.

It was a pretty morning in Indiana.

We never did see the sign that said we were entering Illinois, but we did and were soon nearing Chicago.

Going around Chicago these days almost feels like downtown because of the busy traffic patterns.

Seeing O’Hare in the distance reminded us of the many time our flights connected in Chicago.

Heading toward Wisconsin.

We got into a short rain shower, but most of the day was sunny and pleasant.

We saw lots and lots of cornfields. Some looked healthy, others were lacking rain (or had too much) and were looking shabby and yellow. None looked as tall or as healty as ours back home in Pennsylvania.

Being a farm girl, I especially like seeing farms.

Miles and miles of interstate make traveling easy.

Seeing cattle and dairy herds is another favorite of mine.

I don’t think I ever saw so much Queen Anne’s Lace. They lined the interstate for miles.

Cerwin even stopped at one point – without any prompting from me – so I could get some closeups.

Our final stop for the day was a motel in Woodbury, Minnesota.

After unpacking, we went to an Outback Steakhouse for supper. Cerwin’s mouth had been watering for a steak ever since the evening before when he and Josiah were hoping to go to a steakhouse. However, due to traffic and a misguided GPS, Josiah was later than he planned and we chose subs – which were delicious. But they weren’t the steak Cerwin was planning to enjoy.
