We came upon this open Amish carriage as we traveled to Jakey and Crystal’s (our niece) house. They live about half hour from us. Crystal is the daughter of Cerwin’s brother, Elvin.

We were surprised to see these wheat/or barley shocks (can’t quite tell). We don’t often see shocks in our area.

Jakey was busy grilling chicken when we arrived.

A few of our great nephews and great nieces enjoyed the pool before lunch.

Peyton’s jump into the pool has a cute back-story. She, a friend (right), and her sister were preparing to jump in together. As she jumped the others let go of her hand, meaning she jumped in alone. 🙂

I looked for beauty surrounding their pool.

By the time the chicken was finished, their family and friends had arrived and lunch was ready. He used two different kinds of bastings as he grilled them.

This one was my choice. It was delicious.

Everyone brought something to contribute to the meal.

There was barbecue chicken, beef barbecue sandwiches, salads, relishes, salty items, fruit and desserts.

The musicians went through the food line first so they would be ready to start picking and singing. That way the rest of us enjoyed music with our lunch. Notice Cerwin in the red shirt. His brother, Elvin, is to his right. I don’t know the names of the men on the ends. A distant cousin, Raymond High, is in the white.

I will tell you about the rest of the day in Part 2 when I enter my next post.
