Happy 80th Birthday to My Favorite Cerwin

I am honored to be his wife and proud of the man he has become.

He has grown to be a strong spiritual leader in our family. Today our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren includes 44 people.

When we met 60 years ago, one of his greatest fears was standing before a group of people. Today he can be in front of a large crowd with ease – especially when sharing his experiences with TFC.

He worked hard and sometimes long hours to provide for us. His first job was driving truck on his parent’s farm, then when he was old enough to be on the road he began delivering coal for his dad. His first job away from home was at Rohrer’s Quarry, Lititz, PA. To this day he remembers delivering stones to road construction in our area and mentions it as we drive on certain roads or by someone’s driveway.

His dream was to drive a big rig and that came true when he began driving a propane truck for Myer’s Metered Gas, Manheim, PA, in 1966. The company is now Ferrellgas, and that is where he retired in 2006 – after forty years.

He served in many ways with Transport For Christ (now TFC Global) since the mid-1970’s, but one of his favorite jobs, after retiring from trucking, was building chapels and delivering them to truck stops around the country. A highlight has to be when we delivered a chapel to Chilliwack, British Columbia. The photo above was taken in Livingston, Montana.

We feel blessed by God to have known each other for sixty years (married almost 58) and living long enough to retire together. It may be our favorite thing yet! 🙂 I love spending most of each day with him.
