Gracie’s on West Main with Jeff & Chris

Saturday Morning, November 21

We arrived early for our 2020 birthday breakfast with Jeff and Chris. This was for Chris’ birthday.

I enjoyed the quotes on the blackboard behind our table. Gracie does the chalk writing and calligraphy on all the blackboards in her restaurant.

There was another blackboard across the room from us.

After Jeff and Chris arrived, we ordered breakfast and got caught up on each others lives.

Jeff and Chris ordered the “Classic Bacon Sampler.” Bacon is a breakfast specialty at Gracie’s.

We each tasted the interesting variety: Four slices of locally sourced, naturally hardwood double smoked bacon, two slices of caramelized brown sugar bacon, and two slices of Irish bacon.

Jeff’s “Monte Cristo”: Signature French toast stuffed with smoked ham, caramelized bacon, and two eggs.

Chris’ “Pig in the Hen House”: Black pepper rubbed pulled pork, cheese blend, sautéed bell peppers and onions, topped with apple butter BBQ sauce.

Cerwin’s “Lancaster Hash”: Local hardwood-smoked creamed chip beef over home fries, sautéed bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and two eggs.

My favorite breakfast. Two eggs over light, bacon and rye toast.

We had a fun surprise when Jeff and Chris’ oldest son Jordan (second from right) stopped in to say hi to us. His girlfriend, Olya, was in Florida with a friend, so he took Olya’s mother (second from left) to Gracie’s for breakfast.

I needed a new picture of Chris and Jeff for our refrigerator and took advantage of this time with them to get a photo.

We treasure these birthday meals with our children and grandchildren as it seems we never see them enough – especially this year.
