The Birthday Party that Didn’t Happen

Saturday, March 14

We were planning for the annual birthday party at our friends Mark and Marcy’s house – on Sunday, March 15.

At the time, we didn’t have to stay home because of the virus, but Marcy messaged me on Saturday morning to say she had a serious case of bronchitis and would have to cancel.

I had previously offered to take the cake, and it was ready for pick up on Saturday morning. I cut it in half and took one half to Jere and Kristen’s. They are always bringing us things to eat, so this was our turn. There are 6 of them so it was gone in one meal. 🙂

I cut our half into serving slices and put them in the refrigerator. We enjoyed it for dessert for a few days. Yum!

This is us in 2017 when everyone was at our house. Left to right: Marcy, Mark, Gene, Cookie, Gerald and Cerwin.

Marcy, Cookie, Gerald’s wife, Joanne (deceased:( ), and I have birthdays in February. We have been friends since our children were small – some since our teenage days.

Last year the ladies met in a restaurant, but this year we wanted to include the guys because Gerald recently had hip surgery. We wanted it to also be a get-well meal for him.

We will try again when the weather is nicer and the virus releases us from it’s grip.
