Food & Flowers

Friday, May 31

We were in need of Fox Meadows vanilla ice cream, so decided to have a late lunch – or was it an early supper – at the Creamery on Friday afternoon.

I love their unique sandwiches, so chose a half Veggie & Mint Grilled Cheese.

It was delicious!

Cerwin is a bit more traditional – not sure of new tastes – so chose the grilled cheese.

Before going home we drove a bit out of our way to go to the Flower Wagon. I took my step-mother there a few times in recent years and just felt a need to go there for some potted flowers in her honor and memory.

I thought these potted flowers looked lonely so bought two more pots to go with it. I figure if I have to water one pot, I may as well water three. šŸ™‚

Since I was on the road the next day I bought two more annuals at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill.

I planted the two smaller ones and kept the two large pots intact.

An employee was putting these dwarf sunflowers out as I walked through Stauffer’s greenhouse. It looked like the perfect fit for this open spot in the flowerbed in the middle of our driveway.

I think we are finished beautifying with annuals.

We have lots of roadside garden stands in our area of the country that often draw us into their driveway because we enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables.

This is what our Sunday lunch looked like. Homemade chili con carne (that I made on Friday), fresh sugar peas, a slice of fresh tomato, and cheese bread (purchased at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill.

Dessert was fresh strawberries over Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill short cake, with whipped cream.
