South Africa – Day 3 – Evening

Friday, March 2

Scenes along the streets of Muizenberg as we walked to Friday’s Market for supper.

Inge – this photo and the next are for you. 🙂

Entering Bluebird Garage where a variety of scents and sounds greeted us.

Cerwin isn’t real brave with new tastes, so he was hoping to find familiar food in this large multicultural display of supper items.

We chose two items from this man with Argentine food.

Cerwin and I enjoyed the stew and meat pocket.

Back at our table, the boys were enjoying pizza. They aren’t real brave with new foods either. 🙂

The ceiling included a wide array of lights and decorations.

There were signs with words that we had never seen. What is a Goodiegat?

There were few empty spots at the tables, so we were glad to find an area large enough for the nine of us.

There were some delicious-looking desserts close to our table, so Cerwin and I proceeded to get something there rather than working our way through the crowd to another stand.

Apple cake for Cerwin and crème brulee for me

Kristen’s Bunga Bunga

Jere and Kristen’s Nutella-filled crepe

Kristen and I were fascinated by the beautiful South African flower display as we exited the building. Kristen was disappointed that she couldn’t buy any because we would be flying to another site in South Africa in about 36 hours.

We enjoyed a variety of street scenes as we walked the few blocks to our hotel. The people who live in this house must enjoy cactus and succulents.

A cute piano display outside a store.

Jesse had been wanting to play on some of these beach creations ever since we arrived in Muizenberg.

It was a beautiful evening for a beach walk.

Looking back toward our hotel (background right).

Empire hotel was our home while in Muizenberg

We had to be careful to not step on jellyfish as they could still sting us.

Seagulls were everywhere

The boys loved looking for treasures from the sea.

This little puffer fish seemed to be clinging to life.

Jana put it back in the water, but didn’t have much hope that it would live.

Our hotel from another angle

The boys loved exploring the rocks and sand.

Jared found several starfish.

This rock appeared to be precariously balancing on a set of rocks.

Time to head back to our hotel, as the sun was beginning to set. It is not good to be out on the streets or beach after dark in this area.

Day three of our trip was fun, busy, and eventful. We did a lot of walking. I had 15,394 steps on my Fitbit by the time I went to bed.
