Ron Copenhaver on Matthew 12:20.

King James Version: A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

Living Bible: He does not crush the weak, or quench the smallest hope; He will end all conflict with his final victory.

My notes from Ron’s message:

In this passage, Jesus is talking about people.

A reed doesn’t last very long, they are flimsy and weak

Jesus came to strengthen us – not weaken us.

He knew that we would at times feel like a bruised reed or a smoldering flax. That there would be times when we would feel battered and bruised – barely hanging in.

Never forget: Jesus came to give you strength because your life is precious to Him.

He came to give you victory!

Following the sermon, we had a baby dedication for the newest ones in our congregation and prayed a blessing on the parents who are raising them.

You may recognize the last one as our great granddaughter.
