Two Sunrises That Brought 2022 to a Close

It was interesting to be editing these photos the day after listening to Genesis 1 and 2. The photos are from two of the last days of December.

Last year I listened to the Bible chronologically for the first time in my life. I have read or listened to the Bible – Genesis to Revelation – many times. I never counted, but it would probably be 15 to 20 times.

When I was a young mother or busy in TFC, it often took me 2-3 years to get through the Bible. I did that on purpose to not feel overwhelmed. but still wanted to read through the Bible. Soaking in one chapter a day was what I preferred at that time.

Listening is my preferred method these days and I really like that my preferred readers use a different Bible version each week and then give a short insight to what they just read.

With being retired, I have time for that – to just listen to the Word of God.

This is what I heard yesterday.

Genesis 1 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”

14 Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. 15 Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened.

16 God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, 18 to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

Isn’t it amazing that – since that time – sunrise and sunset have never stopped.

God has never had to create a new sun or a new moon.

They haven’t worn out nor have they faded – and they never get a break. They are always shining someplace as the earth orbits the sun and the moon orbits the earth.

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22
