It has been a long time since we attended a gospel concert and even longer since we were at American Music Theatre near Lancaster.

I didn’t catch the name of the man who opened the afternoon with fabulous instrumentals.

When a promoter (who knows us from TFC Truck Rally days) offered us free tickets to one or more weekend concerts, we chose Saturday afternoon for two reasons: we wouldn’t be getting home late at night, and we liked the lineup of musicians.

Jeff and Sheri Easter have been a favorite of ours for many years.

A highlight of their concert was when they showed a video of Sheri’s mom, Polly, singing with the Lewis Family. When the video finished, Sheri continued singing the song her mother had been singing. Polly died in August 2018.

Next there was a video of Jeff singing with his dad, James Easter, of the Easter Brothers. Jeff sang in the video and on stage. James passed away in December of 2021.

These three (Jeff and their two musicians/backup singers make a fabulous trio.

Gold City (a group since the 1980s) has a fairly new mix of singers and certainly took command of the stage with their familiar songs and great harmony.

About this time I remembered that I had a “low light” setting on my camera. It made a great difference in my photographs. I don’t have a need to use that setting very often.

It’s always fun to have Tim Lovelace as the MC.

He is quite funny and a great storyteller.

On this afternoon his story was about pursuing the ice cream man (on a bicycle) when he almost missed getting a banana twin sickle. It was a story from his childhood when his parents couldn’t afford more expensive popsicles.

Karen Peck and her band are another favorite of ours.

Karen (second from left) sings with a daughter and sister. I understand the male singer is not related.

Karen’s son (right) is her guitarist and the father of her first grandchild.

It was great to spend a relaxing afternoon listening to beautiful, inspiring music.

On the way home we stopped at Outback for supper.
