We enjoyed this event last year when we basically went to “hang out” with our friend Sam Rittenhouse, so decided to go back again this year to learn more about the ministry – and “hang out” with Sam and his dog Suzie. Oh, and to enjoy the good food. đŸ™‚

Sam’s daughter Debbie and her husband Lanny were the welcoming committee and received donations for the meal. Lanny is on staff with Potter’s House.

A supervisor for The Potter’s House lives in the brown house and up to eight men can live and recover from addictions in the brown/grey house on the right. The orange plastic fence in the background is where they are building another men’s recovery house.

The women live in another area not far away. Their part of the ministry is called The House of Ruth.

It was a very hot day, so we found a seat in front of a fan, which Sam and his dog Susie also enjoyed.

This young woman was arranging the shirts, so I asked her to hold up one for me to photograph.

This year the event was on the property of The Potter’s house, so I determined to learn more about the ministry.

That’s Cerwin on the right and Sam’s daughter Debbie right behind him as they picked up their meal.

After enjoying the delicious food – pork roast, baked beans, coleslaw, Rice Krispie treats and drink – I enjoyed a tour of the men’s house.

My tour was given by one of the men who is proceeding on the road to recovery. I was impressed with the program.

We enjoyed visiting with friends and several acquaintances who we haven’t seen for many years.
