Truckers Were a Common Denominator of Our Weekend

Saturday Morning, June 4 and Sunday Evening June 5

Cerwin talking to Daryl Martin at a trucker’s breakfast that Daryl organized to benefit the family of a driver who recently passed away.

Cerwin hadn’t seen Daryl for a long time and barely recognized him. He used to have long hair and a long beard. Daryl said in his testimony that God totally changed his life.

I did not take pictures of the group of about 35-40.

While enjoying breakfast – and sitting across from Nelson and Nancy Martin – Nancy waited for a time that Nelson was away from the table and invited us to his birthday party the next evening. He knew the family was coming but she wanted to surprise him with a few extra guests. 🙂

They live in Lebanon County in Amish territory, so we met a few buggies on the 25-minute drive on Sunday evening.

Nelson was surprised to see us.

Most of their children and grandchildren were there to enjoy the hamburger, chicken and shrimp that Nelson grilled, plus all the extras that Nancy prepared.

A granddaughter helped him uncover the cakes while the others sat nearby or played outside games.

There were two delicious ice cream cakes.

We enjoyed meeting their children – 3 sons and a daughter – their in-laws and grandchildren.
