Campfire on Dustan and Jenna’s Patio

Saturday Evening, May 2

The highlight of the evening – especially for Jade – was her new-for-her sliding board.

She was a bit unsure of sliding at first and wanted her grandma (Chris) helping in the back and her mom (Jenna) at the bottom.

At first she always fell toward her right instead of waiting until she hit the ground.

Grandpa (Jeff) helped teach her to go down on her belly. She loved that.

We enjoyed a nice fire – tended by Dustan – while we visited and ate our hot dog supper.

Dustan and Jenna have a campfire tripod that held this berry cobbler while it baked to completion.

My dessert of cobbler and ice cream.

Jade went right back to her sliding board as soon as supper was over. I loved the look on her face when she was mid-slide. It was kind of like, “Oh, no, what have I gotten myself into” and wanted to capture that.

Well that didn’t work. She was fully aware that I was taking her picture and looked at my camera – smiling – the whole way down. 🙂

Jenna was trying to teach her to go down by herself and not need someone behind her and at the bottom, so counted, “One, two, three. Go!” This picture captures her counting with us.

I learned how to get her attention. She loved seeing the pictures of her going down the slide. Jeff took this picture with his cell phone.

Time for smores

Getting a taste of marshmallow from Grandpa High.

Thanks, Dustan and Jenna for inviting us. It was nice to get out of the house and visit with you and Chris and Jeff.
