Full Moon

Tuesday, April 7

I didn’t get any great shots of the full moon last week, but it was a beautiful evening to be out in the yard looking at the evening sky.

It was a cloudy evening so the clouds continually changed my view of the moon.

I made several changes to my camera settings – the reason for the difference in some of the shots.

This is what I saw in the western sky when I turned my back to the moon and walked toward the house.

I am not real schooled on stars and planets, but my research concerning this bright light tells me that Venus was bright in the western sky on April 7. Thus I am supposing this light is Venus.

From the Internet: Venus is the second planet from the Sun. As the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon. Venus lies within Earth’s orbit, and so never appears to venture far from the Sun, either setting in the west just after dusk or rising in the east a bit before dawn. Venus orbits the Sun every 224.7 Earth days. Venus does not have any moons, a distinction it shares only with Mercury among planets in the Solar System.
