Influence

Saturday, March 7

Did you ever see an advertisement on TV or smell the scent of a favorite food in a mall or grocery store and have it influence your next purchase?

We were watching TV last Saturday afternoon when I noticed a sub in an advertisement and thought, “I would enjoy a good sub for supper.”

I thought about it for a bit, then asked Cerwin if he would like to go to town for a Subway sub? I added that we could take a UPS package to the hardware store in the process.

He said, “Sure, let’s do it.” 🙂

Now that we’re “old” we usually share a six inch sub. He eats two-thirds and I enjoy the other third. We even got two. One ham and one roast beef – then kept one for Sunday lunch.

Then a funny thing happened at a funeral visitation this week.

As we were greeting the family, my cousin’s husband asked, “Did you enjoy your sub on Saturday?”

I asked how he knew we bought a sub. He happened to see us walking into Subway.

At the funeral the next day I asked, “By-the-way, how did you know that we weren’t getting tattoos on Saturday afternoon?” (You enter the same outside door – then go left to Subway or right for tattoos.) He smiled and said, “I guess I didn’t think about that. So which did you get – a sub or a tattoo.”

The above photo is evidence of our choice. 🙂
