Our Family Christmas Lunch

Sunday, December 8

Following lunch we projected 326 old photos on the garage wall. That brought lots of laughs and remarks. 🙂

This is just a sampling.

The six of us – probably in the late ’70s. Jeff, Jere, Cerwin, Deb, Me, and Diane.

Five generations in 1986: My dad, Bruce Hershey; my grandpa, Milton Hershey; me; baby Elizabeth; and Diane.

When they were younger:

Jeff and Chris’ family

Mark and Diane’s family

Jere and Kristen’s family

Roy and Deb on their wedding day.

Our next project was playing Now-You-Have-It-Now-You-Don’t – using the large, foam dice. Cerwin and I buy a variety of $3.00-$3.50 gifts.

Everyone chose a gift from the pile on the floor, then took turns rolling the dice. If it landed on “one left” everyone passed their gift one person to the left. There was also “one right”, “two left”, “two right”, “exchange with someone” and “exchange and keep”.

Biankah

The little ones – five and under – received or chose a gift before the game began – and kept it.

Anthony – who is five – was in charge of getting the dice back to the correct person. Biankah enjoyed helping him when the dice ended up in her area.

We went around the circle only one time because there were 33 people to roll the dice. What was left in your hands after the last roll was what you got to keep – or you could barter with the person who had what you wanted – or you could exchange with something that was on the floor.

We no longer exchange names for gifts – due to the complications with so many people – but bring specified items for a ministry/charity of our choice. This year it was Jere and Kristen’s family turn to choose the beneficiary. Because Jana volunteers at CrossNet Ministries Youth Center, that was their choice. https://elancocross.org/what-we-do/youth-programs/

The director of youth ministries gave Jana a list of their current needs. Those needs were passed on to everyone in the family. The envelope was for those who chose to give cash.

More in my next post.
