Our Journey to Bryce Canyon – Day 7 – Part 2

Wednesday, September 4 – A full day at Bryce Canyon

The next shuttle took us to Sunset Point for another view of the canyon.

I thought these rocks appeared to be sheer, but it may just have been the appearance with the sun shining on them.

We asked a young couple from France to take our picture, then I took a picture of them.

It was tempting to walk down into the canyon, but I knew I could not make the uphill walk back to the viewing area. We learned later that there are some easy walks to the next viewing point – almost all down hill. Cerwin does not enjoy walking so just walking around the viewing areas was enough for him. 🙂

Almost looks like a city.

We walked to the camp store and enjoyed a ice cream popsicle break.

Some beauty surrounding the camp store.

The camp store was our last stop on the shuttle.

This was along the walkway as we went back to Ruby’s Inn from the last shuttle stop.

We went back to our room to relax a bit before going on a drive to Panguitch for a light lunch.

There was a duck close to shore, so I walked over to get a photo to see if I can identify them. I think they may be coots.

Pretty flowers next to the lake.

We got another view of Red Canyon as we drove to Panguitch.

We saw this restaurant when driving to Bryce Canyon and thought it looked like a fun place to eat.

Cerwin wanted his picture taken with John Wayne. 🙂

I enjoyed a salad and Cerwin had potato skins.

We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. A young couple sat near us who appeared to be cowboy couple. He walked with crutches which made me imagine that he was hurt on the farm or from riding a horse or bull. I could hear him ordering hay to be transferred from one ranch to another.

After getting back to our motel we waited for a shuttle to take us back to the canyon. We wanted to see the canyon in the late afternoon and evening sun.

Shortly after getting in the shuttle, we saw a baby mule deer and a bit later a mother and a baby. There was no time to get photos. 🙁

We were glad we had been there in the morning, because by evening it was cloudy and drizzling. It was still beautiful – but nothing like in the morning.

So ended our view of Bryce Canyon.

We recommend taking the shuttle if you are going there. It is easy and means you don’t have to look for a parking spot – which can be scarce by late morning and even worse in the afternoon.

To end our day, we had supper at Ruby’s Inn. I chose the buffet because I noticed they had salmon. Salmon is not my favorite seafood, but I enjoy tasting it now and then. I figured with a buffet, I didn’t have to take a large portion. It was the best salmon I have ever eaten – meaning I went back for a second helping. The waitress said it is fresh.

Tomorrow – Zion Canyon.
