Sportsman’s Dinner ~ Part 1

by Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Ephrata Business Center Saturday, February 23

It was good to be part of Mt. Zion Baptist Church’s Sportsman’s Dinner. They host an evening that is enjoyable and delicious.

I enjoy seeing the results of talented hunters and taxidermists.

It is a good opportunity to talk to outfitters, wildlife specialists, and outdoor vendors. Kevin van Buskirk (between deer mounts) faithfully attends most local sportsman’s dinners to promote Whitetail Trophy Hunt. He makes sure that we know about most of these hunting dinners. Thanks Kevin.

Many hunters and sportsmen arrive early to visit the vendors.

I am not familiar with this vendor, but according to their website, they sell archery equipment.

This man creates beautiful plaques for animal racks.

Next in the line of vendors was someone who is apparently an avid fisherman.

Weaver’s Store at Fivepointville is well-known in our area and a great supporter of local sportsman’s dinners.

Trapping is also an interesting part of our local wildlife system.

Musser’s Outdoors is another store that faithfully supports sportsman’s dinners. Cerwin won a $25.00 gift certificate to this store at last year’s dinner.

Safety, education, conservation, and preservation is valuable to our young people so they will be responsible and wise hunters.

I love that these dinners make this a high priority.

Matt Zimmerman was close to our table, so I got to talk to him a bit.

If you need a taxidermist, he would love to hear from you.

I saw this mount at a previous show and learned on this evening – from Matt – that this is just a mold and not a real hippo.

He enjoyed hearing about my experience of kissing a hippo during our visit to South Africa last year. 🙂

More about the evening in my next post.
