Our Africa Wall

We picked up our canvas pictures today to put a more complete look to the Africa wall in our garage. Perfect Image did a great job on them.

This is what we see when we pull our car into the garage. It makes us smile and remember our trip to South Africa in March 2018.

We bought the hand carved animals at a kind of flea market when we visited an area that overlooked a beautiful area of Drakensberg mountain.

The shell is what Cerwin used to bring the nyala down.

We were pleased to eat some of the delicious meat, and that the rest was kept at the camp for future guests or distributed to the four African helpers. If there is too much meat for the camp and workers, it goes to orphanages or families where meat is needed. No part of the animal goes to waste in Africa.

This photo was taken by Phil (the wildlife specialist) shortly after Cerwin shot this beautiful nyala.

Chalet 1 – where Cerwin and I stayed while with Phil and Kate de Kock near Hoedspruit, South Africa. I have fabulous memories of sitting on the porch (left) each morning, enjoying coffee and watching nyala, monkeys, warthogs and wildebeest. Our bedroom was to the right of the porch, then the bathroom. The room on the far right is the shower.

I took this picture when Cerwin and I were sitting in a small shed near a waterhole on Phil and Kate’s property. I did not have to use the zoom on my camera as this mother and baby
rhinoceros were right in front of us.

We saw this cute baby elephant and its momma in Kruger National Park.

Oh, the memories these picture bring to our minds. We can feel the coolness or heat of the day and remember the location of each one.
