Moving a Chapel to Dade City, Florida

Monday, December 3

We were on the road early Monday morning to begin our trip to Florida – going through the toll both at Lancaster/Lebanon Entrance/Exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at. 4:28 am which is only a few miles from our house.

Our oldest RAV4 was loaded with supplies for moving the chapel from Ocala, FL, to Dade City.

After about two hours on the road, I messaged Heze to ask where he was. He left our house about twenty minutes after us – to head back to his home in Tennessee. He wasn’t too far behind us, so we agreed to stop at Love’s Travel Stop at Toms Brook, Virginia, for breakfast – in about an hour.

Even though we had just spent the weekend with him (for our family Christmas) it was fun to have a bit more time together

Before long we were back on the road – enjoying a beautiful sunrise.

I always enjoy seeing the Apple Basket Water Tower in Mount Jackson, Virginia, when we travel north or south on I-81.

Traveling south

This is what happens at times when taking photos on an interstate. 🙂

An X in the sky

It was good to see some pretty leaves in the south, since our leaves are long gone in the north.

We drove through a bit of rain.

We were about 92 miles from our motel destination about 3:15 in the afternoon.

As we approached Georgia we saw a lot more marsh and swampland.

Palm trees are also something we don’t see in Pennsylvania.

We arrived at our motel just before 5:00 pm.

A sign near the water next to the motel parking lot. I asked the desk clerk if there were really alligators in the water. She said, “No, but we must put signs like this near open water.”

Beauty next to the motel.

After putting our suitcases in our room, we asked the desk clerk for a restaurant recommendation. She said, “Snead’s” at the end of our driveway.” So that is what we choose. It was interesting to sit in a booth that featured George H.W. Bush as we were listening to his Washington DC memorial most of the day.

It appears that George was friends with Sam Snead – a professional golfer.

It was good to sit down in a nice restaurant after stopping at truck stops and gas stations during the day. I had a delicious corn chowder. Cerwin had loaded potato skins.

We got back to the motel in time to watch the sun set over the lake.

It was a good day – and we were ready to sleep.
