Road Trip ~ Supper With Clayton & Peggy

Saturday Evening, July 5

2 (1)Clayton, Peggy, Cerwin, and I enjoyed a slow walk toward the restaurant where we had reservations.

This was the sidewalk to an antique shop.

2 (2)We liked this sign indicating that the shop was closed.

We weren’t shopping anyway.

2 (3)

2 (4)We arrived at Cobblestone Grill about half-an-our early but decided to see if our table was ready.

When I said my name, the host said, “I just prepared your table.”

2 (5)My favorite Peggy and Clayton.

I love these people!

Peggy and I decided that we will probably never run out of things to talk about.

2 (6)We enjoyed our quiet corner of the restaurant.

When I made reservations, I said we would like a quiet area, because we haven’t seen our friends for a couple of years – and visiting is a priority.

2 (7)This was Peggy’s meal.

I think it was salmon.

2 (10)The guys got filet mignon.

Cerwin said it was perfect to his taste.

2 (9)I chose two appetizers. This was Apricot Chicken Bruschetta.

The chicken was smoked – the reason it looks like ham.

There was also goat cheese.

2 (8)I also chose this because I had never tasted Grilled Watermelon Salad – and I love trying new things.

Grilling it really changes the taste, but it was delightful.

There was spinach, feta, strawberries, almonds, fresh basil, mint, and topped with summer vinaigrette.

2 (11)Clayton and Cerwin ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert ~ with the plan that Peggy and I would eat some of it.

We talked, laughed, and drank decaf coffee until we got tired of coffee. 🙂

2 (12)Peggy and I liked the creative restroom washbowl.

2 (14)We continued to talk after going back to the street and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere – including a guitarist/singer on the restaurant patio across the street.

2 (15)Then we heard music coming from the patio of Cobblestone.

We had chosen not to eat outside because there was live music.

We thought it may hinder our visit.

2 (16)But when we heard the song they were singing, we almost wished that we had chosen the patio. 🙂

They were singing, “It’s me, it’s me, oh, Lord, standing in the need of prayer.”

2 (13)We could not have found a better place to meet our friends.

I already dream about doing this again sometime.
