Hawthorne Family Picnic

Sunday Evening, August 6

The pavilion tables are ready for the Hawthorne Family Picnic – my mother’s family.

I asked our sister-in-law Dot if she would be interested in bringing flowers.

She did a fabulous job of creating beautiful arrangements from their own yard.

The food table decoration

5:00 pm – time to eat. Joyce (far left) is my mother’s youngest sister. Next is her husband, Aaron (hidden), then Diane (cousin) at the end of the table, our grandniece Jamie, and Mike (cousin) and his friend (just learning her name. I think it’s Kimmy.) Sorry if that is not correct.

Same people as previous shot.

I took a slice of this lemon sponge pie – made by my sister – with my main course to make sure I got a piece. 🙂

My brother Dale, and his wife, Dot, talking to Tom and Sandy (cousin).

Roasting hot dogs: Denny, Keenan, (married to our cousins Bonnie and Diane), Doug (cousin) and Norm (married to my aunt Orpha Mae).

Finding seats for supper. There were about 50 people here. Joyce (yellow) and Orpha Mae (white) with backs to the camera are Mother’s only surviving sisters. Her only living brother, Vernon, lives in California.

Donna (cousin) and Phil talking to Sharon (cousin) and Joe.

Joe, Donna, and Phil

Cerwin picked up my camera and took a picture of me and Aaron (married to Aunt Joyce).

In this shot I was talking to Phil, Donna, and Aunt Hazel. My cousin Bonnie is to my right. Hazel’s husband, Lester (mother’s brother) died earlier this year.

We had a great time of catching up on each other’s lives.

I love spending time with aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families.
