Ice Sculpture at the Pool
We had a pleasant surprise on Thursday afternoon when one of the chefs did an ice carving next to the pool.
We were supposed to guess what he was carving.
The reason no one could guess correctly is that it was a mixture of several birds.
He did a fabulous job.
Later in the day Ian asked Roy to take him to the arcade. (I think Roy owed him a game or two.)
They had fun competing in the hunting game.
I think Roy won.
Pursue a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy.
Run hard and fast in the faith.

Making Towel Animals on the Jewel
I thought it would be fun to watch the Towel Animal Folding Demo in the Atrium at 1:00 p.m.
It was fun to watch and learn.
Most animal bodies are the same design.
It is the heads that are different.
A dog
Elephant
We knew that this one would be different because the body was made from a wash cloth instead of a towel.
The demonstration could also be watched on a big screen (upper left).
A mouse.
For this demonstration, the mouse was put in a cup. In our stateroom it was tucked under the pillow, making it look like it was peeking out from under the pillow.
Monkey
I wrote that this was a frog, but our granddaughter Lydia tells me this is a gorilla – and I do remember that they quickly changed a monkey to a gorilla. Methinks she is correct. ![]()
Crocodile
Elephant, dog, rabbit
Always be filled with joy in the Lord. I will say it again. Be filled with joy.

Morning At Sea
Norwegian Jewel
Thursday, February 2
A beautiful sunrise 6:53 a.m.
Hannah (right) and her breakfast friend were silhouetted in the Garden Cafe by the morning sun. They met at the same table each morning.
Another fabulous early morning with our four children.
This picture makes me smile.
The instructor teaching us the first step in making Crepe Paper Carnations.
Since this was a day at sea, I decided to look over the schedule and take advantage of some interesting things to do. First I went to Spinnaker Room (9:00 a.m.) to learn how to make Crepe Paper Carnations.
We began with crepe paper and flower wire.
I chose rose colored crepe paper.
Lydia beginning to roll her crepe paper – very loosely.
Elizabeth wrapping her yellow crepe paper flower.
Hannah wanted a purple carnation.
The lady next to me attaching her crepe paper to the wire with flower tape. After getting it attached, we wrapped the entire length of the wire.
Next we began “opening” the carnation by gently pulling the crepe paper away from the center – by starting with the outside layer.
We were surprised at how pretty they were.
Elizabeth, Hannah, and Lydia
A lady near us asked if we would like a photo of the four of us. How nice of her.

More Thursday photos tomorrow night.

Wednesday Evening
After Our Visit to Nassau
Blue Lagoon Restaurant was above the Atrium – location of the Registration and Excursion Desks and a meeting place for some of the week’s many teaching/exhibition sessions.
After shopping in Nassau, swimming on the ship, and sightseeing on the glass bottom boat, most of us were hungry and weary and ready to relax by the time the ship left the harbor on Wednesday evening.
I liked the icicle ceiling decorations.
This was the first time most of us saw the cornrow braids Abby got after the glass bottom boat ride.
When looking at the dinner photos in the Blue Lagoon, I was surprised at how weary everyone looked. ![]()
Jesse was beyond weary.
Elizabeth and Nathan were trying to figure out what Malt Vinegar is and why it was on their table. ![]()
We learned that it is on the table to be used with french fries and seafood.
When I entered our stateroom that night, I thought Dewa forgot to put a towel animal on our bed, then I looked higher and saw a monkey hanging from our curtain.

It was the close of a wonderful day spent in a totally new atmosphere.
