God said, “Let Us make man like Us and let him be head over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every thing that moves on the ground.”

Viewing Sea Life From a Glass Bottom Boat
Wednesday Afternoon, February 1
We had a great viewing area on the first deck of the glass bottom boat.
Though we saw the sea floor and the fish in beautiful natural color, (lots of colors) the photos came out with a blueish/greenish tint. If you go back to the first photo, I think it was from the reflection on the wall above the glass.
Josiah
After seeing the bottom of the bay, we went up to the third level for better viewing of the area around us.

Ian had fun taking pictures to show his parents.
Jenna
A boat going by us at a fairly high speed.
Going by the cruise ships again.
Sisters – Hannah and Lydia
After getting back on the ground, we walked by this sax player who was playing This is the Day the Lord Has Made.
Jenna wore my jacket when on the third deck, and was holding it out her stateroom door as we approached.
Her parents are standing just beyond her.
LORD, you are worthy of praise!
Teach me your laws.

Glass Bottom Boat
Wednesday Afternoon, February 1
The boat coming in to the dock.
Preparing for the previous group to disembark so our group can embark.
Part of our family.
Some of the others. There were a few who stayed on the second level.
Those on the third deck.
Going by the three cruise ships (including ours) as we got a tour of the harbor.
The Norwegian Jewel
Heading toward Paradise Island where many wealthy people have homes. If I remember correctly Nicholas Cage owns (or owned) one of the houses behind these trees.
The narrator told a story about this house. He said a couple owned a mansion on the other side of these trees and this small home, and when they divorced, she got the mansion, and he got this little house.
Going by Atlantis
This home was once owned by Mary Kay (cosmetics).
One of these homes once belonged to Elvis Presley.
Barry Bonds’ Bahamian home
Oprah’s Nassau Estate
Michael Jordan’s place on Paradise Island.
Someone’s private beach.

It was just beyond this area that we saw a nice variety of fish and things that live on a reef. More on that tomorrow night.
Rivers of Babylon
I found the song I was looking for in last night’s post – thanks to our friend Barb who lead me to Youtube where there were many varieties of Rivers of Babylon.
I tried to find one that sounded a bit like his Bahamian accent.
He sounded something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-5E6_qtXAw.
Quiet down before God, be prayerful before him.

Streets of Nassau
Wednesday, February 1
This looked like a fun way to travel the streets of Nassau.
Just as I took this photo, I recognized my cruise friend Kathleen in the carriage.
I just had to take a few truck pictures.
It is the middle winter back home in Pennsylvania. However, it feels like early summertime here.
The lyrics to the song this man was singing caught my attention because I thought it was a gospel song, but as I listened closer, I noticed that it was a song about a bird.
I asked if he knew any gospel songs. He did not, but then said, “Wait, I think I can get one together.” We loved the song, but can’t find the lyrics. It went with Psalm 137:1-4. We remember words that went something like this: “How can we sing the praises of Zion while standing on the banks of Babylon?”
Partway through the morning it began raining, and though it would have been warm enough to go swimming, the water was fairly cold, so we began thinking about something to do in place of swimming for the afternoon.
We spent time in some of the stores to get out of the rain.
After getting back to the welcome center, we made arrangements for our group to go on a glass bottom boat.
After taking our few souvenirs back to our stateroom, we had lunch on the ship. You may recognize Atlantis in the background. It was just across harbor.
After lunch we went back to the welcome center to give them the count (17) of those from our family who would be going on the 2:30 p.m. glass bottom boat.
While walking around our ship, I heard someone calling my name and looked up to see Hezekiah and Jeff waving at us.
This is the man we paid for the boat ride.
While waiting for our boat to come back from its latest tour of the harbor, Lydia watched a man paint a scene on canvas.
The man who was overseeing those who were getting on the glass bottom boat fed the fish so we could see what species were in the lake, but the seagulls often stole the bread.
One of the seagulls left a deposit on Jenna’s shirt!
I had some wet wipes along – which came in handy for cleanup.
So ends this part of our visit to Nassau.
Sing a new song to the Lord;
praise him in the assembly of his faithful people!

Straw Market & Street Scenes
Wednesday, February 1
Looking back at our massive home for the week of January 28 to February 4.
It takes several large land anchors to tie down a cruise ship.
Jeff was the first one in our family to spend time bartering with a salesperson who captured his attention outside the straw market. He thought he got a good deal.
Cerwin bartering with a man inside the market.
While he bartered, I noticed some pretty flowers outside the building.
Palm trees abound in the area.
This man standing next to Cerwin got my attention by calling, “Madam, are you a Christian?” When I said, “Yes, I am.” He said, “I knew it! I can see it in your eyes!”
Don’t you love when people can see Jesus in your eyes? And I wasn’t doing anything spiritual, just making sure to keep my purse and camera safe from pickpocketers. ![]()
I enjoyed watching the very dapper Nassau policemen.
More about Nassau tomorrow
We must always aim at those things that bring peace and that help strengthen one another.
