Getting the Patio Ready for Summer

~~~ Photos taken on Saturday, March 27 ~~~ It was a beautiful day on Saturday, which gave us opportunity to get rid of the winter leaves and debris in the patio area. We will get more red stones and some pretty flowers, but will wait until later when the weather is warmer. If you follow […]
~~~ Photos taken Wednesday morning, March 24 ~~~ He loved watching our birds while waiting for me to make him a scrambled egg for breakfast. The bruise on his cheek didn’t happen at our place. He was helping his mom (Diana) in the yard the day before and fell on a bucket. More birds to […]

Ian’s School Honor – by Zoom

| Uncategorized

~~~ Photos Taken Monday Evening, March 22 ~~~ I always like to connect to Zoom about 15 minutes early – to make sure my computer connection is working. 🙂 The honor was given to Ian (grandson) by teachers and school board – during a board meeting. (Some board members and teachers were also present via […]
Carolina Chickadee
2 Comments
| Uncategorized
I thought this was a Black-capped Chickadee until I checked my bird book. The black-capped has buff colored feathers under its wings, the Carolina’s underwing feathers are white. The black-capped is a bit larger, but when you see only one, it can be difficult to tell the difference. They are pretty little birds.
Amish Church in Our Neighborhood
~~~ Photos taken on Sunday, March 21 ~~~ When I saw the first Amish carriage heading north, I hoped there were more to come. Several years ago, we went on an Amish tour in another area of Lancaster County and learned that when a carriage has a visor on it, it belongs to a preacher. […]

TFC Global ~ Lancaster Prayer Breakfast

~~~ Photos taken Saturday morning, March 20 ~~~ We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise-filled, 35-minute drive from our house to New Holland. I love driving toward the east as the sun comes up. I had just a few seconds to get a shot of Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church (east side of Ephrata) without getting electric or […]
Sunrise ~ Bluebirds ~ Crocus
2 Comments
| Uncategorized
~~~ Photos from Friday, March 19 ~~~ I enjoyed watching a few Eastern Bluebirds at the feeders. This one perched on top of a shepherd’s hook. The flowerbed in the middle of our circle driveway is filled with crocus. The crocus are a result of the 10 bulbs my parents gave us 47-1/2 years ago […]

Spring Spraying

~~~ Photos from March 17 ~~~ It was barely daylight when I heard a tractor across the road. It appeared that he was spraying fertilizer on the field. As he got closer to me, I realized that he was spraying fertilizer – of the manure kind. 🙂 Yep, it is certainly the manure kind of […]
Great Blue Heron
~~~ Photos taken on Sunday, March 14 ~~~ When I was coming home from Jana’s bridal shower last Sunday, I noticed a Great Blue Heron in a neighbor’s pond, so turned around at the next driveway to get some pictures. Of course, as soon as I stopped the car, it flew away. When I looked […]

Springtime

~~~ Photos taken in early March ~~~ I enjoy the quietness of winter, but when the weather gets warmer and there are other signs of springtime, I am ready for new growth and working in our flowerbeds. There are a few Eastern Bluebirds here during the winter, but we begin seeing more as springtime approaches. […]
~~~ Photos from the end of February and early March. ~~~ It isn’t often that one of our cardinals is at the feeder close to our kitchen window in good lighting. This one cooperated nicely. A male Downy Woodpecker at the mealy worm suet. It looks like it must have been windy as its feathers […]

~~~ Photos from Wednesday, February 24 ~~~ Throughout the winter, we have been trying to go for a short drive in the middle of each week. My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
